Toni,
Welcome! Many of the curmudgeons on the list will berate you for the
bluegrass affliction believing that all true banjo music occured prior
to Mr. Scruggs. Although I am an old-time (read clawhammer) banjo
player, I think that the world is a better place each time someone takes
up the instument with whatever style. I am a former bluegrasser and
have hung out with some heavy hitters in the genre (ie. Alan Mundy of
Country Gazette). This means I made sure he had a cup of tea when he
needed it. Byron Berline played a pretty mean fiddle with Alan many
years ago and has a really tasty music store located in Guthrie,
Oklahoma if you can make it that far inland.
