Dear all,
We decided to have our December practices on Wednesday 8pm, as Thursdays are all busy for me. haha..
So for next 2 practices, we'll focus on Taize songs for the 13th Dec Taize event... This will also give Aaron/Abi some time to work out new arrangements for some songs that we will choose and tell them. So tell them at least 1 song you really like ensemble to play. (or more).

Then, in January we'll start on Saturday 2-4pm proper. Wyman/Hazel, ok with time?
Cheers

Summary of our mtg (22 Nov 2007):
Focus for 2008:
1) Play at the 4 quarterly Taize meetings with Felix
Work out our list of Taize songs. Coordinate with Felix. Tighten our music. Publicise Taize more.

2) Play at the 4 Prayer for Vocations with Vocation Team
Play only the Taize song parts. If any song we can play, maybe can jam along. But not as anchor musician.
3) Alternate Parish Prayer Sessions:
Play on alternate months, only Taize and selected songs that we have arranged.
4) Not playing for Mass
4) Not playing for Mass
5) Small One-Off Events: Lenten Vigil 2008 (February) -- Taize -- Sam to confirm
6) Big Events: Some Fund Raising activity? Christmas Pageant (for further discussion/confirmation)
7) Weddings - possible if Elaine joins us! ;) Because Elaine and I already play for wedding... so it would be a possible direction. Right Elaine?? ;) hahaa... no we didn't really discuss this... but since focus is on Taize, we may not have time for Weddings yet..
Some 'rules' for 2008! :)
1) Work out music parts/arrangements with each other for 2008
2) Have a say over our songs -- choose our own repertoire and practice in-depth
3) If we play at events, we would not be the anchor music provider. We will play only Taize and songs in our 'repertoire'.
4) We will prefer toplay for neighbourhood mass/hospitals-charity stuff only later on, when we are bigger or better
5) We need a "give-it-our-best" kind of positive mentality
6) Each practice, we will take turns to direct the practice and different parts
7) No more breaks in our weekly practice. Go on each week unless overseas or other good reasons.
8) Time changed to SATURDAY, 2 - 4pm.
9) We would like to learn 1 new song every 1-2 weeks
9) We would like to learn 1 new song every 1-2 weeks
Roles:
Coordinator - Sam still (until we are able to do elections!)
Admin / Logistics - Richard (booking of room, keeping track of stands)
Accounts - Abi
Scores/Arrangements - Abi / Aaron
Publicity / Website - Sam / Abi
Practices I/C - ALL: Each week one person will be I/C
Misc-to-dos:
2) Abi to check violin lesson timing whether can change.
3) Richard - check stands & book rooms, and also check booking for next year Saturday 2pm ok or not.
(PS: ok, i have 6 stands (only!) with me now.. oops... we had 14 total at start, minus 1 which i gave to felix/ave maria choir, so should have 13 total. Ah.. who else has the stands??)
4) Everyone to choose a song you really want ensemble to play. Then Aaron/Abi will get it arranged for all the parts for Guitar/violin/piano/flute/vocals maybe.
5) Aaron/Abi can work on 4 songs (from our list of songs) for January 2008 to learn.
Website:
I added this into our website (Goals for 2008). (The goals are still subject to fine-tuning!!!)
As for Vision & Mission, these were on the web previously, do you all think it needs to be changed? Let me know if you can "craft" a better statement to represent where we are heading/doing now...
Goals for 2008
To encourage Taize prayer in the Parish through our music, expand repertoire and tighten musicality.
Vision
To enhance the parish's worship experience through our music and enliven the OLPS music scene.
Mission
To serve God, the OLPS parish and the wider community outside of OLPS
