Well Dave,
I don't know about Holtkamp specifically, but one of my all-time
favorites is the Meine Seele erhebt den Herren (Fuga supra il
Magnificat), by JS Bach, BWV 733 (Krebs??). It is 5 pages long in my
edition, and the pedal cantus firmus in whole notes comes in only at
page 4. But what a dramatic entrance it is!
