* In my review of Arthur LaMirande's concert I neglected to mention
that he played the virtuosic Exsultet by Augustinus Franz Kropfreiter
(1936-2003) as his post-recital offering. Mr. LaMirande will start his
upcoming recital at St. Patrick's Cathedral with this piece. Read the

* *Forest of Pipes* is the new book just published, about the
Rosales/Glatter Goetz organ at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The book is
excellent; my copy is made even more special by the fact that it's
signed by Manuel Rosales (by a personal request) and, I hope, will soon
be signed by Caspar Glatter-Goetz. Jennifer Zobelein provides
insightful interviews with the key people involved in making the dream
come true and with world-famous organists who describe their
experiences playing this amazing instrument. The book includes a Tonal
Tour bonus CD. Highly recommended!

* A message from new member Bob Thompson:
The American premiere of selections from Petr Eben's work for organ and
narrator, "The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart" ,
improvisations describing scenes from Johann Comenius' (1592-1670) book of the
same title, was heard and filmed for television on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007
in Eugene, Oregon. The artist was Robert Thompson with narrator Michael Peacor
performing at Central Presbyterian Church in Eugene, which has a fine older
Reuter, the largest organ in Eugene. The audience was moved to tears by the
power of the narrations combined with Eben's organ music. Many commented that
it was the most powerfully moving organ program they had ever attended.
Thompson is available to present this program for anyone interested. Fees are
nominal and flexible. Contact btorgel@... for further information. A
website with a video of the performance will be available soon.
Have a great week,
Lana
