** "All-Inclusive" on the radio! **
Well, I have no idea what to expect... but tomorrow (Wed, July 28), I'll be
talking to Andy & Allison, the morning DJs at Knoxville's #1 country
station, WIVK 107.7 FM! I believe they'll talk to me, cut 'n paste the
tape, and play the interview between songs and commercials. I won't be
talking to them until 11am Eastern time, so I'm guessing the spots will air
Thursday or Friday morning.
Here's their web page, but unfortunately they don't have a 'net broadcast:

I got an email last week asking if I'd be interested -- and y'all who know
how I can't shut up on the list know my answer to that question! Sure
enough, yesterday I got a call from Knoxville and we talked for about 15
minutes about the Chicks and their history. The guy -- I believe Eric was
his name -- said that he'd visited my site and thought that the info would
be of particular interest to his east Tennesee listeners. What an honor --
that's Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton country, the cradle of traditional
country and western music. Not to mention that it's not far from where all
my mother's folks grew up!
Even better, Eric said that it looks like they've lined up founding Dixie
Chicks lead singer Laura Lynch (now Laura Tull) for an interview! I don't
know when they'll be talking to her, so anyone in the area should keep an
ear out.
And one more interesting note -- the station now has copies of the full
Dixie Chicks discography! They ordered the CDs of "Shouldn't A Told You
That" and "Little Ol' Cowgirl", plus the tape of "Thank Heavens For Dale
Evans" from Miles of Music. They reported that the staff at MoM was
extremely friendly and helpful... and after folks in Knoxville hear the
Chicks sweet sounds, I predict that Miles of Music may experience a run on
the Chicks! If you haven't picked up your own copies of these out-of-print
releases, you might want to order them now -- while you still can.

** Site Updates **
I've been slowly updating the Beta version of the All-Inclusive Dixie
Chicks Page, and it's almost ready for prime time. Some of the updated
sections include a new "Chick Chat Archive Index" page, songwriter credits
in the "Track-By-Track Reviews" (and I finished the section on "Thank
Heavens For Dale Evans"), tons of new info about the Chicks' upcoming
releases in the "Complete Discography", and a brand-new "Site Map".
As usual, the beta site is available for preview at the Tripod mirror:

** Stay Tuned! **
Recent "New Chicks" developments -- in particular, the departure of
guitarist Tommy Nash and bassist Bobby Charles, Jr -- echo the sort of
changes that rocked the group in its early days. Word on Nici's discussion
list is that the Chicks are going to take some time off, but may be touring
Europe and Australia in the winter.
I'm looking forward to including any info I can about these great
musicians, as they become part of the history that you don't find in the
press releases! I'd be happy to include any stories y'all may have about
Tommy and Bobby's contributions to the Dixie Chicks' sound and success.
Both were in the band before Laura Lynch left in 1995... read a little
about Tommy's musical history in the Fall 1995 issue of the Chick Chat.
