** Blue Plate Special update **
As the September 1999 Walnut Valley Festival approaches, I'm learning more
every day about Robin Lynn Macy's latest musical efforts. They've added a
picture to the festival's page on the group -- a soft-focus animated .gif
showing the five members of the band in turn. It looks like it's two women
and three men, and I'm trying to find out more. I think I recognize Robin
-- she's the one with the Texas big hair -- but I don't know the others.
If you're planning a trip to Winfield to see Blue Plate Special and dozens
of other great (or soon to be great) performers, you'll be happy to know
that the performance schedule has now been posted to their web site. Blue
Plate Special is playing two shows: Thursday (9/16) on Stage 3, and on the
main Stage 1 on Sunday (9/18) to close out the festival.
As I get more info, I'll continue adding it to the site, and Blue Plate
Special will eventually have their own page with band member info and
pictures. I'm particularly interested in member Troy Gilcrist, who played
in the teen bluegrass band Blue Night Express in the '80s... along with his
sister, and a couple of gals named Martha and Emily Erwin. You may know
these girls... one now goes by the name Martie.

And I'll keep the Timeline updated as much as possible with these new
developments:

** Track List for "Fly" **
Thanks to a seller on eBay, I've got the full track listing for the Dixie
Chicks' upcoming fifth CD, "Fly". The titles are provocative, and word on
Nici's mailing list is that the songs they've been playing in concert are
as edgy and wild as the titles. You've probably heard about "Sin Wagon", a
song about a woman who's been sweetness and light but decides to do all her
sinnin' in one night. But there's more... like "Goodbye, Earl", in which
an abusive husband dies -- and nobody misses him! Everyone on the list
who's heard these songs in concert thinks they're great, and as more
reviews come in, I'll keep updating the Discography with more info.

** Other updates **
I've moved all the Beta Site changes I noted in the last update
announcement to the main site, including the new "Chick Chat Archive Index"
page, songwriter credits in the "Track-By-Track Reviews", the brand-new
"Site Map", and a very rough collection of "Links". Thanks to the Walnut
Valley Festival site, I was also able to add some great info about the
Chicks' early festival days to the Timeline, including visits to Winfield
by Blue Night Express and Danger in the Air. More info on these formative
years is always welcome! "Chick" it out.
