** An "Old Chicks" News Flash from The All-Inclusive Dixie Chicks Page! **
The Dixie Chicks are scheduled to take a short trip to the Land Down Under
this month, with stops in Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. They'll
be in Melbourne on November 13, where they will be taping an hour-long
interview with a local Country station-to-be. But the station's owners
have something more up their sleeve... a *three-hour* retrospective
covering the Dixie Chicks' entire discography, from the self-published
"Thank Heavens for Dale Evans" right through the #1 hit album "Fly". It
comes out to four hours of Dixie Chicks, Old and New.
Melbourne's "Nu Country 94.9 FM" is an upstart country station struggling
for the right to be the exclusive broadcaster at that frequency. Under the
Australian communications laws, a number of potential stationholders have
been given trial periods at the frequency... with varying results. Nu
Country appears to be the best-organized group, and even though they don't
get to be "on air" again until November 15, they're already broadcasting on
the 'net. Check out the range of country sounds from West Texas to the
Australian Outback:

The web site has been updated to note that the interview portion will be
broadcast over the net live after the Chicks' Melbourne concert on
Saturday. But a contact at the station informed me that the three-hour
retrospective -- featuring the pre-Natalie sounds of the early discs --
will be broadcast on a continuous repeat loop starting at Midnight,
Saturday morning, Melbourne time. According to timezoneconverter.com, the
broadcast will begin at 8am Central (Dallas) time Friday, November 12.
The broadcast loop will continue until Midnight (Melbourne) on Monday, when
Nu Country once again starts broadcasting over the air in Melbourne.
Get a head start -- visit Nu Country 94.9 FM now and listen to sweet
country sounds from the other side of the world. And Friday morning, when
you go to the office, tune in for a slice of Dixie Chicks history never
before heard on radio!
