Welcome to the Update Announcement List for the All-Inclusive Dixie Chicks
Page! You're receiving this message because you requested to be notified
of additions to the site and other news about the history of the Dixie
Chicks. Subscribe/unsubscribe instructions are included at the end of this
message.

** An anniversary: dixiechicks.com **

On August 31, 1999, the Dixie Chicks released their fifth album, "Fly", and
their second official web page, dixiechicks.com. Both were hugely
successful -- "Fly" flew off store shelves, and the dixiechicks.com server
pretty much crashed from the load.

But many members of this list remember that dixiechicks.com did not always
point to the Dixie Chicks' multimedia-"enhanced" web site. Yesterday,
January 13, was the anniversary of the day that The All-Inclusive Dixie
Chicks Page moved to dixiechicks.com -- and immediately started taking in
900 hits a day.

Of course, it was too good to last, since I never actually owned
dixiechicks.com. I knew from the start, or at least suspected, that
putting my site at that URL was just a way for the domain's owner to get
his due from the Chicks' management. Sure enough, two months (and 68,570
hits) later, dixiechicks.com suddenly became a portal to... nothing. "403
Forbidden" greeted my would-be visitors, whose numbers had swelled to 1400
a day.

But it was a great ride! If you'd like to learn the rest of the story
behind my site (and the Chicks' previous "official" site), you can read all
about it here:

** Featuring Dallas' KHYI 95.3 The Range (a correction) **

I'm happy to report that the new KHYI-Fans email discussion list is growing
nicely! It's up to almost 40 members in just a couple of weeks, and I'm
still featuring KHYI 95.3 on the "All-Inclusive" home page. Today, midday
DJ Abby Goldstein (formerly the music director at Dallas public radio
station KERA) played the Chicks' brilliant version of "Northern Rail", as
well as a selection or two from the Domestic Science Club CD!

But in my last message to y'all, I gave the wrong subscription address. I
gave out the address to send a message to the list! So if you tried to
sign up and got some sort of rude message from the list robot, try this
address:

khyi-fans-subscribe@egroups.com

And don't forget to listen for yourself! Their unique blend of music has
just earned them fourth place nationwide in Arbitron's first-ever monthly
'net airplay survey.
