In this issue: Road Tripping to Winfield, the latest from mp3.com, and the
latest additions to the Beta site.

** Time for a road trip? **

This news just in from the Winfield-L listsrv, the discussion list for the
Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas. It's short notice, but if
you've been itching for a road trip, here's your chance!

Subject: 2 Free shows Thursday
To: winfield-l@...

In Winfield, Thursday evening, there are two big shows planned, and both
are free.

First, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Big Twang will play outdoors at the 10th and
Millington parking lot, behind the Walnut Valley Festival office. Big Twang
won the 1999 RockyGrass Band Championships. Its members may be better known
from their past groups. One was in New Tradition, another in Special
Concensus and a third in the Nashville Bluegrass Band. Most compelling is
lead singer Robin Macy who was a founding member of the megagroup Dixie
Chicks. If you liked Blue Plate Special at Walnut Valley '99, come see the
latest incarnation of the group.

Not only is Big Twang not to be missed, but there will be free hot dogs
served during the show. Both the food and Big Twang appear courtesy of
Webber Land Company, celebrating 25 years in Winfield.

Closing the evening will be Stacey Sanders, an Enid, Okla., singer,
songwriter and guitar player. He has a tongue-in-cheek view of the world of
romance, and his stories will alternately bust your gut and tear your heart
out.

Stacey will play in The Main Course, 800 Main, from 7 to 9 p.m. Of course,
desserts and coffee will be for sale, and so will his CD, "Invisible
Highway," which features fellow Oklahoman Bryon Berline.

To learn lots more about Town Night, visit the web link
http://www.winfieldcourier.com/w000527/Tues4.html
or tune into KSOK 107.9 FM about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

See you there!
Seth & Jenny

** Big Twang on mp3.com **

In related news, I've mentioned before that Big Twang has graciously made
three full-length tracks available for download at mp3.com:

MP3.com - Big Twang
http://www.mp3.com/BigTwang/

But there are some new developments here, too. It appears that mp3.com has
started to pay artists for the visitors they bring, and Big Twang has
racked up over $24 so far. While that's not enough to buy a good set of
banjo strings, it does give you a way to directly support Robin Macy's
latest effort in a tangible way. You can find more information at the
mp3.com site -- it'll give you something to read while you're downloading.

An example on the other end of the spectrum... a group out of New Mexico
called "The Dixie Dicks" has a song called "My Name Is Earl" on mp3.com.
It's a response to "Goodbye Earl", and is one of the top country downloads.
The track has earned over $900 bucks for the group!

** Speaking of money... **

mp3.com has also added another new feature that could help boost awareness
of Big Twang's music. They've always had charts by genre and sub-genre,
like this one:

MP3.com > New Grass
http://genres.mp3.com/music/country/bluegrass/new_grass/

Now, they've added a new feature: the Payola section. Every week, mp3.com
conducts an auction, and the top 10 bidders in each genre get the song they
picked added to the "Payola Songs" listing. The bidding starts on
Wednesdays, and Big Twang's tracks would be included in the "Country" genre
(which includes bluegrass, new grass, and others).

The only requirement is that you have the "Song ID" of the song you want to
plug, and the folks in Big Twang were kind enough to pass them on:

Blame - Song ID: 385668
Reserved For The One I Love - Song ID: 385676
Stealing Away - Song ID: 385666

The mp3.com auctions are offline for the moment, but when they start up
again (scheduled for sometime today), you can support Big Twang with a bid!
I checked mid-auction a couple of weeks ago, and the winning bids ranged
from $2 to $14. As I recall (but don't quote me), the top 10 bidders all
pay the *lowest* amount among those 10 (they call it a "Yankee Auction").

Next week, I may try to put together an organized effort to push one of the
Big Twang tracks up the chart. Any feedback on which of the three would be
the best "first single" would be much appreciated! I lean towards "Blame"
-- a remake of one of the tracks on "Shouldn't A Told You That".

** Beta Site Updates **

If you're enough of a die-hard fan to have read this far, you may be
interested in the latest updates on the Beta site. I make changes to the
Tripod version of the All-Inclusive site before moving them to the "Live"
version at dixie-chicks.com.

5/4: Updated "Hole in my Head" with writer credits & links
http://rbrooks.tripod.com/fly.html

I don't have all the writer credits because I still don't own a retail copy
of Fly! Isn't that pitiful?

5/9: Added "Bat out of Nashville" to the Rumored/Future Releases
http://rbrooks.tripod.com/hitdisc2.html

Dixie Chicks cover fellow Dallasite, Meat Loaf. Hmmm.

5/16: Add link to wireless web version

Yes, if you have an Internet-enabled moble phone, you can view selected
portions of The All-Inclusive Dixie Chicks Page right in the palm of your
hand! I added a link to the wireless version from the (beta) main page of
the site, but you can punch this in to your phone if you've got nimble
fingers:

Dixie Chicks
http://www.tagtag.com/dixiechicks/

Or just go to mopilot.com, a wireless search engine, and enter "Dixie". It
looks like, so far, "All-Inclusive" is the only Dixie Chicks site on the
Wireless Web!

All I've converted so far is the "Indie" section of the Discography, but
I'll add more when (if?) I get some feedback from mobile Chicks fans.
