In this issue: Robin Lynn Macy's new group sets a release date, and some
technical notes.
** Big Twang set to release "Pastures of Plenty" **
After much anticipation, Big Twang's web site is up and running. And just
in the nick of time, because their debut album is coming soon! According
to the site, "Pastures of Plenty" is set for release just in time for the
Walnut Valley Festival in mid-September. Saturday, September 2 is the date
set for the album release party, so the album should be out shortly after.
The Bio page is full of fascinating information -- it turns out that Robin
has stayed active in education, teaching Geometry at a Wichita private
school. Troy Gilchrist, one of the members of Blue Night Express (along
with sister Sharon and future Chicks Emily and Martie Erwin), is a
published writer and certified masseur. Jeff Scroggins fixes a mean green
chili stew, Ken White hails from Kentucky, and Darren Wilcox is "a soul man
trapped in a white man's body".
You've got to check it out! I'll send a note to the list as soon as CDnow
has "Pastures of Plenty" available for Advance Order. Meanwhile, here are
some links:

** Technical Notes **
eGroups, the host of this and hundreds of other mailing lists, is in the
process of merging with Yahoo!. Of course, eGroups says everything will go
smoothly, but they are planning some changes to ad
placement. Announcement-only lists like this one will be subjected to an
ad at the *top* of the message instead of at the bottom. If this happens,
don't worry... just scroll down for the rest of the update. If a worthy
competitor to eGroups comes on the scene, I may consider moving... but so
far, their competitors either have no respect for privacy (ListBot), have
an unknown track record, or were already swallowed up by eGroups (OneList).
I haven't done anything further on the site redesign, but I want to get
something together before the Big Twang release. I'll keep y'all
informed! Meanwhile, you can check out the web project that takes up most
of my time these days -- the all-new KHYI.com site! KHYI 95.3 in Dallas is
one of the only broadcasters who will play the original Dixie Chicks
tracks, and that's just the start of their commitment to real country
music. If you're fed up with the Garthinization of country music, dial up
KHYI.com and listen online. You'll find that country didn't die -- it just
went underground.
