** An "Old Chicks" News Update from The All-Inclusive Dixie Chicks Page **
Dallas' WFAA Channel 8 ran a *long* feature last night on the Dixie Chicks'
triumphant return to Dallas -- and it's good news for Chicks fans, 'cause
it's archived at broadcast.com!

Here are some highlights. Use the slider in your RealPlayer to advance to
the time index shown.
23:00 Teaser - 15 seconds or so before commercial
25:45 Live just as the concert is letting out
26:25 Tape from the concert (performing "Ready To Run"), with fan
interviews from before the show. This leads up to the best seque ever:
[fan being interviewed]: They're from here, just like us. What more could
you ask for?
Cut to... Laura, Robin, Emily, and Martie playing "Rider". *That* is "what
more *I* could ask for"! This section starts at about 27:00 and includes
closeup shots of Laura, Robin, and early Emily and Martie playing in an
early '90s concert, possibly at Poor David's Pub. Also includes a scene
from the "Shouldn't A Told You That" post-Robin era, with an interview with
a long-time fan at the concert. Then a brief recap of their sudden rise to
fame, and some more fan interviews.
28:24 The surprise of the night: A live interview with Laura Lynch! She
is so sweet and gracious... and at the end of the segment, when someone in
the crowd yells "Go Chicks!", you can see every bit of the genuine love she
has for the group as she grins a grin as big as Texas, as the crowd goes
wild behind her.
The segment ends at about 30:00 as they seque over to sports (we have a
40-minute newscast, since everything's bigger in Texas). That's 4 minutes
and 15 seconds of airtime devoted to the Dixie Chicks -- over 10% of the
entire program! That's yet another testament to how much Dallas loves
their Dixie Chicks -- old and new.
Even if your bandwidth stinks and you can only get the audio -- run this
clip. It's a must for all Chicks fans.
