** An "Newest Chicks" News Flash from The All-Inclusive Dixie Chicks Page! **
Although there have been two previous Dixie Chicks kids -- Asia Abraham,
Laura Lynch's daughter, and Martie Erwin's stepson when she was married to
Ted Seidel -- there wasn't a fully home-grown Dixie Chicklet... until now.
According to posters on the Dixie Chicks Fan Discussion List (see
http://www.dixiechicksfans.com/), Natalie Maines gave birth to a six pound
(ounces unknown), 20-inch baby boy named Jackson Slade on March 15,
2001. Mom and Dad (actor/director Adrian Pasdar of "Mysterious Ways") are
said to be doing fine.
The "official" announcement seems to have been during the A&E cable
channel's Loretta Lynn "Live By Request" special. Fellow Dixie Chick Emily
Robison -- always known as the wild one -- called in a request in honor of
the new arrival. No word yet on what song she requested, though "One's On
The Way" would be an obvious choice.
Loretta's controversial track "The Pill" might have also been apropos...
especially if you go back nine months and compare that date with Natalie
and Adrian's wedding date. Although the pregnancy was announced after the
wedding (with a due date in mid-April), many fans on the discussion list
suspected that was simply a matter of being tactful.
Hey, at least she *did* get married -- once again, the Chicks defy the
current entertainment industry trend. Compare with stars like Tanya Tucker
or Madonna... however you do the math, the remaining Dixie Chick marriages
seem downright old-fashioned.
So congratulations to Natalie and Adrian on the blessed event. God bless
your new family!
At least musicians are accustomed to late-night feedings... :)
