** An Original Chicks News Flash from The All-Inclusive Dixie Chicks
Page! **
In addition to my dixie-chicks.com responsibilities, I'm the
webmaster for Dallas' Americana Country 95.3 The Range
(www.KHYI.com). One of my tasks is to update the concert calendar.
This week's calendar updates revealed something wonderful: Robin
Macy's return to Dallas!
According to the schedule posted at the Poor David's Pub web site
(www.poordavidspub.com), Big Twang will be arriving at the club that
virtually started it all in August. Dallas-area music fans consider
Poor David's something of a shrine -- owner David Card recently
celebrated the Lower Greenville area establishment's 24th
anniversary. In a town where the lifespan of a club is usually
measured in weeks (or days!), this is a startling feat! And it's all
because of Poor David's commitment to the music.
Back in the early days of the Dixie Chicks, Poor David's was one of
the few venues willing to work with an up-and-coming band like the
Chicks. They played several times, gaining experience and learning
the ropes. All three incarnations of the band played there: the
original lineup of Laura, Robin, Emily, and Martie; the "Shouldn't A
Told You That" lineup without Robin, and the now-famous trio
featuring Natalie Maines singing lead. David Card prides himself
being the only place in the world with pictures of all three versions
of the group on its wall!
So there could be no more fitting place for Robin Macy to make her
return to Dallas. She's been in Kansas since shortly after Domestic
Science Club broke up in 1996, teaching school and playing the local
bluegrass circuit. But now Big Twang is branching out, and it's time
for Robin's homecoming.
The big day is Saturday, August 18. Mark your calendars, and don't
forget to visit Big Twang's web site and order their debut CD,
"Pastures of Plenty" -- only available directly from the band.

And while you're at it, visit the only commercial station in
Dallas/Fort Worth that even has a copy of the pre-Natalie Dixie
Chicks CDs! Call in a request off of "Little Ol' Cowgirl", and tell
'em that the "Web Mama" sent you. :)
