Rob Davis (owner of www.dixiechicksfaq.com) just sent this note to the
Dixie Chicks fan discussion list. Tommy Nash joined the Chicks in 1995
after guitar player Matthew Benjamin left the group, and stayed with the
Chicks after Laura was let go in October 1995.

But he and bassist Bobby Charles Jr. were let go themselves in July 1999,
after "Fly" had already been recorded. In concerts later that same month,
the words to "Give It Up Or Let Me Go" changed to "Play that guitar, *boy*!"
