** An Original Chicks News Flash

It looks like 2002 is going to be an eventful year for the Dixie Chicks, as
they get back into the swing of things after a year off -- their first time
off in over a decade on the road.

The latest news is courtesy of Rob Davis, webmaster of the Dixie Chicks FAQ
(www.dixiechicksfaq.com) who posted it to Nici's DixieChicks discussion list:

>It's time to buy your plane tickets to Texas again!
>The Chicks will be playing at the State Fair Of Texas
>in Dallas on October 19th. I don't have full
>information on the details yet. However, Pat Green and
>Charlie Robison are also scheduled to appear on the
>same day.

A quick look at the State Fair of Texas' web site confirms the
news. Here's part of their press release:

>Dixie Chicks, Los Tigres Del Norte, Alan Jackson to Headline Concerts at
>2002 State Fair of Texas
>
>Country music's red-hot Dixie Chicks will come home to Dallas to top an
>all-star, all-Texas lineup on Oct. 19, opening night of the first-ever Big
>Tex Music Festival in the Cotton Bowl. The two-day concert event will
>spotlight the Dixie Chicks with special guests on Saturday and Los Tigres
>del Norte with a blockbuster slate of Latino talent on Oct. 20, the final
>day of the 2002 State Fair of Texas.
>
>In making the announcement, State Fair officials noted that the Big Tex
>Music Festival marks the return of mega- concerts in the Cotton Bowl
>during the run of the Fair after a ten-year absence.

The last time the Chicks played the State Fair of Texas was in 1998, when
they played one of the Fair's numerous free music stages. "Wide Open
Spaces", their major-label debut (fourth album overall) was getting hot,
and the title track was poised to spend four weeks at #1 -- and Dallas fans
hadn't seen the Chicks in almost a year. Their homecoming was a huge
event, with the crowds spilling out into the Fair Park Esplanade.

This time, though, the Chicks show won't be free -- according to the press
release, the Cotton Bowl shows will be priced like regular concert events,
but the ticket price will include fair admission. It's still going to be a
great deal for concert goers -- the State Fair of Texas is one of the
country's biggest. The midway includes over 60 rides, including the
212-foot-tall Texas Star -- the tallest Ferris Wheel in North America.

More information will be available throughout the summer -- the fair runs
from September 27 through October 20, 2002. For more information:

See you at the fair!
