The Dixie Chicks discussion list (www.dixiechicksfans.com) are all
a-twitter about the Chicks' appearance at the VH1 Divas Live
show. Apparently, this picture at Yahoo! News reveals that Emily Robison
(nee Erwin, wife of alt.country crooner Charlie Robison) is several months
pregnant -- or is it just the pose?

The Chicks have been keeping to themselves lately, other than occasional
statements and rumors in their low-level battle against Sony. Their last
big concert appearance was last December in Houston -- a show that
long-time fans said wasn't really up to their usual high standards. Since
then, though, the group has remained largely out of sight, except for a
couple of appearances in February. There is no confirmation, though, from
www.dixiechicks.com -- maybe it's just a pillow?

Meanwhile, radio stations across the country are playing a track called
"Long Time Gone", originally recorded by alt.country veterans Tim O'Brien
and Darrell Scott on their release "Real Time". List members report
hearing the track in Florida, Nashville, here in Dallas (on both major
country stations), and in LA. In fact, the LA jocks reported that the
Chicks' next release, "Home", will be coming out August 27. However, the
official web site says that the track will be included on the live album
for yesterday's (5/23) VH1 Divas Live show. But even with no official word
from Sony or the Chicks, I suspect this means they worked something out.

You may find the names of Darrell Scott and Tim O'Brien in your CD case --
Garth Brooks' "Sevens" CD includes one of their songs. O'Brien has written
songs for Kathy Mattea, and Scott's "Heartbreak Town" was included on the
Dixie Chicks "Fly" CD. You've probably also heard Darrel Scott's "It's A
Great Day To Be Alive" -- as recorded by Travis Tritt.

Unfortunately, their version of "Long Time Gone" doesn't seem to be
available at CDNow -- but you can get it at Tim O'Brien's web site:

According to the site, O'Brien and Scott sat in the living room and
recorded "Real Time" over the span of a week. Their original version of
the song gets heavy airplay on Dallas' alt.country station KHYI 95.3
(www.khyi.com).
