This announcement-only list has over 800 members -- thank you all!
However, I want to remind anyone who doesn't want to be here, that you
can leave at any time. Just send a note to the following address and

Why do I point this out? Well, out of the 800+ folks who got
yesterday's posting, three were not amused. Rather than attempt to
teach them how to use the "unsubscribe" feature, I've removed them
manually.


** They stab it with their steely knives... **

Normally, it's rather rude to disclose the contents of an email. But
without identifying the senders, here are some messages that have had
me laughing all morning!

This gentleman, I believe, has sent the same message every time an
email goes out. I've finally obliged him by removing him from the
list:

> Never send me anything about the Dixie Chicks again!

You know, a good friend will tell you if you're about to do something
dumb. As an example, I often wish one of the Erwin sisters had given
Natalie the "shut up!" sign about 5 seconds before she opened her
mouth in 2003. Well, the French tried to tell us that we were about
to step in something stinky... here's this gentleman's appreciation of
our European allies:

> FYI!
> If Sony really wants to know what they can include it's one way
> tickets to France "with NO return in Bold print!

He goes on to ask:
> Have I said enough?
Um, yes, I think so.

Finally, there's the guy who never did get that "freedom of speech"
thing right in History class. In this country, we have the right to
say that the President is making an embarassing mistake (or a bold
move, if you prefer). There are other countries, however, where
saying you are against the government's policies will land you in
jail. Perhaps this writer is from one of those:

> Unsubscribe me from these idiots info.
> They should be performing for Terrorists somewhere


** What's ahead on that dark desert highway? **

The next year should be one of the most eventful periods in the Dixie
Chicks' 15-year career. I'm here to provide some links between the
Chicks' future and their facinating past. But I may not remain as
aloof and neutral as I once did. For the record, here's my stand on
the whole issue:

* Natalie should have kept her mouth shut.

BUT...

* Natalie was right.

Whether you agree with me or not, I hope you stay. If you don't want
to, then please refer to the beginning of this message. Flames will
continue to be cheerfully ignored, though especially dumb ones may be
sent on to the list!
