I just received a note from the mailing list for Sara Hickman, a
wonderful Texas singer/songwriter who has long been involved in
humanitarian causes from Austin to Romania. Not surprisingly, Sara
has been deeply touched by the tragedy in Louisiana and Mississippi,
and is donating 100% of the sales of some of her best albums to
hurricane victims. In addition, CDBaby.com is rounding up additional
artists who will be joining Sara in her efforts.

Some background: Sara Hickman, Robin Lynn Macy, and a singer now in
Nashville named Patty Lege, formed a group called the "Domestic
Science Club" after Robin left the Dixie Chicks in 1992. The ladies
didn't really mean to form a group and market an album, but a Texas DJ
got hold of a limited-edition CD they'd made for their friends, played
it on the air, and the ball just kept rolling. In my opinion, this
disc is as close as you can get to the original Dixie Chicks sound,
now that the Chicks' first three albums are long out of print. More
details at this page:

In Sara's message, she notes that the group's early '90s debut album,
simply named "Domestic Science Club", is among the albums whose sales
will benefit hurricane victims. This is a great chance to hear Robin
singing "Windmill and the Wind" *and* support a good cause.

The All-Inclusive Dixie Chicks Page is also an affiliate of CD Baby.
In honor of what both Sara and CDBaby.com are doing, I'll donate all
the site's CDBaby.com affiliate proceeds ($1 per CD) to the Red Cross
through the end of the year. Don't get too excited -- since I don't
push the affiliate links, I'm lucky to get one buck a month. But at
least it's something. Here's a direct link to "Domestic Science Club"
