The Orpheus Chorale is a community choir based out of Hornell NY dedicated to the education and exploration of the choral arts.
Formed in 2006, Orpheus Chorale was established to expand the musical horizons and address the recreational needs of a strong and growing musical community.
Beyond performance opportunities, the Orpheus Chorale is comprised of a membership who, above all, value the rehearsal process and opportunities to expand their musical horizons through:
* Appreciation - exposure to and study of a broad spectrum of choral music across cultures and the rich history of choral music
* Critical Listening Skills - for performance styles, ensemble technique, and literature
* Musical Theory - developing an understanding of primary concepts of music theory and sight singing
* Vocal Technique for Choral Singing - focusing on rhythmic precision, pitch, blend, balance, diction, as well as skills in listening and singer independence
The Orpheus Chorale will perform the Rutter Requiem as it's inaugural concert on Palm Sunday April 1, 2007 at United Presbyterian Church. Main St. Hornell NY.
