Those are soooo awesome Quixie. You gonna upload the mp3s here? You
just have to cause those are killer versions. I'm quite impressed.

Those were done with a cheap chat mic . . . inspired by your note, I
did a couple of rough tries (slightly Latinized) of some i.m. tunes
over at the school I work at. Better production (though still
unpolished). I posted them at

Hi guys, I thought I'd first say Happy New Years and all that. I hope
everyone is doing well.
As most of you know, I run imdiscog.com. There's a message board
there as well as a media section (link found on the "Other" page).
It's not exactly a well known fact and it's certainly not advertised.
Although I guess I'm advertising it now.
It's no where near complete, it's no where near what I wish it could
be. But some of the members of the site have donated in 2007 and
that's been a huge help in keeping the site registered, operational
and allow me to make purchases to make the site even more rewarding
than it has been in the past.
It's also allowed me to restore a lot of old VHS IM videos. What's
available on the site are only mp3s, wmvs and mov files at 320x240
resolution. They look fairly nice and are great for computer viewing.
They are upgrades to my first capture project a couple of years ago
which weren't nearly as good. A high end analog video editing system
makes it possible to go back and make these upgrades. As you may also
know we've been working to make these videos available at DVD
quality. We're getting there...almost done. And at least a few DVDs
are already out there. You can join any discussion about the DVDs
over at imdiscog.com message board. It's a private disussion that
only members can see. So sign up if you wish to participate.
Lastly, any of you that have a DVD already of the project that was
put up on bittorrent last year, I expect that DVD to be obsolete
soon. Another preservationist has popped up that may work to benefit
a few of the more challeneged captures that were on there. So keep
your fingers crossed for an upgrade in 2008.
Anyway, that's all I have. Hopefully the band will reschedule their
cancelled performances from last year. If I hear anything, I'll be
sure to let you all know.

to have hunted down and bought the CD, but instant gratification is
good- and this is (in my opinion) the best studio version of this

Yes, I do have it...just not with me. As a side note, that CD was
one of the first compilations I bought that contained an IM track. I
don't recall if it was the first or not, but I still make it a point
to collect as many of the compilations as possible these days. I'll
try and upload it here if someone else doesn't do it first.

I think I have it. I am playing something I have on my iPod called
"Now In This Hush (acoustic)" but I'm not sure if it's the same one
from the CD you're referring to. But it's awesome nonetheless.
I won't be by my computer for awhile (I'm at work) but I could try to
send it. What's Our Courtyard's mp3 policy? Can I upload it here since
it's a rare track or is that not kosher?

Hey everybody,
Does anyone have the acoustic version of Now In This Hush? It was on
an old 90's CD comp called "If We Give You This CD, Will You Be Our
Best Friend?"
If anyone has it, would they like to share the mp3? Pretty please?
Thanks,

Hi, everyone. I have been remarkably quiet on this listserv, but I'm
still here. Anyway, I should have shared this back in the summer
when I posted it, but better late than never. As fans of the band,
you might be interested in this:
I have a blog about literature, but mostly about children's lit, in
which my best friend (also a librarian) and I review books (again,
99% children's lit). On Sundays, we stray from that a bit and we
have a feature in which we list seven *good* things that happened
during the week (whether book-related or not). It's become quite a
popular feature for our community of readers. Recently, we also
decided to feature the work of different children's book
illustrators on these Sunday features. Well, I really wanted to
feature Karen's art work from their lullaby CD, even though she's
not a children's book illustrator, so she graciously gave me
permission after I contacted her (she also gave me permission to
post the lyrics to "Happy, The End" in another post I did). I was
extremely grateful.
So, if anyone's interested, I posted these images this past July at
this link: http://blaine.org/sevenimpossiblethings/?p=796. I totally
meant to send this to this group at that time, but what can I say? I
get busy. I thought, as Karen and IM fans, that you might be
interested in seeing that. I know I converted at *least* one other
blogger to their music; she bought their latest CD, based on my
recommendation. And she enjoys it. Wahoo!
(The post in which Karen gave me permission to post the lyrics
to "Happy, The End" is here, if anyone is so inclined to read it:
http://blaine.org/sevenimpossiblethings/?p=768).
Cheerio,
Jules (middle TN)
Same here. I started listening IM when Umbrella came
out but a lack of wheels and money kept me from seeing
them play live until recently. I caught them the two
times they played at Jammin' Java in Vienna, Va., and
enjoyed every moment. I cherish those performances and
look forward to seeing them again whenever they
return. Until then, I play their CDs and enjoy the
music.

They haven't played live regularly -- or really much at all -- in many
years. They've also been known to cancel a lot of shows (as they did
recently). Everytime I've seen the band play (at least four times
total now), I've tried to appreciate it for the truly rare and
wonderful experience it is.

Erik,
Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Yes, yes, yes, I
would go to York or Lancaster for an IM show. I've
done that on more than a few occasions. A Christmas
show would have been extra great. Maybe next year...

Y'know, I was just thinking a couple of nights ago that it's been way too long
since the mission has played live. Although I don't think I could bear being
there if they didn't play Surreal . . .
g
Hola, amigos. I know it's been a long time since I
rapped at ya.
(Ten points for anyone who catches the cultural
reference there...)
Anyway, it's been quiet in the courtyard, so I thought
I'd pipe up. Last weekend I went to Seattle for a
40th anniversary party/ recommitment ceremony with my
former neighbors and good friends John and Sally.
They are the coolest neighbors anyone could have, and
a loving, thoughtful, fun pair of humans. They had a
celebration with family and close friends. I got to
DJ, and had a blast. The night before, I played "Since
I still tell you my Every Day," for them because it
just seemed to fit.
Even before that, I'd listen to the album several
times. During one listening, that very song just
grabbed my attention and qualified as an instant
classic. There are countless songs about the glory of
new love, or its wild, passionate side, but I liked
how "Since" reflects the everyday, but constant
connection between two friends that grows over time.
Right now I don't have a copy of We Walked in Song,
because I decided to leave it with them. It seemed
like a fitting gift. Although I'll have to get another
copy, that's OK. I won that copy from the good folks
at Lunapark6, so I got to pass forward the gift.
Thanks, Universe.
And now, in case Karen, Don, and Mike are Courtyard
subscribers, here is my shameless appeal:
=====================================
Dear Karen, Don, and Mike,
I've enjoyed your music for well over a decade now,
but the timing has never worked out to see you
perform. I came THAT close to meeting you in the
studio when you were creating Glow, because my
co-worker John Burton worked on that project at Bad
Animals in Seattle. Only I didn't find out until you
had flown home. *sigh.*
Now, I know you are all quite busy, and this can be a
wacky time of year. Myself, I'm flying back east in a
few weeks to see the family, hoping that there are no
blizzards in Denver before Christmas, or ice storms in
Chicago after New Years. If you could spare just one
little ol' evening to pull up some chairs and play
some tunes somewhere in the mid-Atlantic region, that
would be one of the nicest presents I can imagine,
outside of seeing my family.
And if you don't feel like traveling, then perhaps you
could rent an Elks Club or such in Lancaster or York,
and I'll beg, borrow, or bus my way up there from
Maryland. And so will a lot of other great folks.
(right, Rocco?)
Money can't buy you happiness, but it can purchase the
gas money and tickets to experience good music.
Best Wishes,
Erik
(p.s., even if y'all can't make it, we love you
anyway. But there's only so many times one can watch
"It's a Wonderful Life.")

I just stumbled upon this myself- what an unexpected treat! And

Eisley has a new album coming out. I'd say if you're a fan of IM's
early debut album, this would be up your alley. One full track and
two partial tracks from the forthcoming CD are on their myspace page:
http://www.myspace.com/eisley
And for those of you non-Star Wars fans, Eisley took their name from
one of the port cities in the first movie from 1977. They were forced
to change it from Moss Eisley to just Eisley due to copyright. Their
latest song Invasion was inspired by the book Invasion of the
Bodysnatchers.
