We're sorry to report the show last night was cancelled by the
booker/sound-guy. We made the trip down there- Kenneth even overcame
his car trouble and took the train to Oakland where I picked him up.
We arrived early and brought all our gear upstairs and waited.
Around 9pm the sound guy called and said he wasn't getting out of
bed so we were to be sent home. Before that happened we did a quick
soundcheck so at least we can say we've played the same room as
Metallica who recently played a secret show there under an assumed
name. The bartender also told us of Kimo's rich history as a venue
for Drag Shows. In it's heyday he said it was like looking in the
mirror every night and people would be running back downstairs to
get their dresses on to take part. And as he primped his bouffant
wig he said the place had changed quite a bit over the years and the
management had to board up the windows and cover the John Travolta
dance floor to combat noise complaints and the drag shows are now
just a memory... that is of course until the next great drag
revival.
In other news: I'll be doing another appearance on DJ Shorty's show
next Wednesday the 10th at 6pm on KSUN. You can listen online.
Fo' Shizzles 2 Electric Bugaloo Wednesdays 6-8pm PST, 9-11 EST at
www.sonoma.edu/ksun
And at 8pm the same night (Nov. 10th) I'll be playing 2 songs at the
Elliott Smith Tribute show at the Sonoma State pub. This is a free
event.
