I'll be seeing Pat with Jack DeJohnette (!!!) and Larry Grenadier later this
week when they'll be doing a fundraiser at the school where Pat's kids (and my
nephew) go. The auditorium holds about 100-150 people and if it's anywhere
nearly as good as it was when Pat played there two years ago with Christian
McBride and Antonio Sanchez it'll be terrific.
Can anyone point me to good Websites about jazz options in NYC for this Friday
night? Thanks.
Rick

Try these...first one has actual listings. The next two are lists of clubs and
who usually plays where, etc. The rest are some individual clubs (which I'm
sure you probably already know about)

I'd really love to go tio that show as I saw those guys in August at
Bearsville, but I can't. Do me a fav if you get to talk to the guys,
tell them CJ said hi, I'm sure they'll remember, mention the
wheelchair and the Pablo records t-shirt, I'm sure Larry will remember
the latter cuz he asked me about it. =) When I talked to Jack after
the gig at Bearsville he was soooooo tired I didn't get to ask him
much, but if you could ask him about the K. Zildjian ride he had among
his Sabian's that night because he hasn't played a K since the mid
60's. Thanks!

I took a quick look though the listing and realised that I must be getting out
of touch with modern jazz. I recognised probably 2 names on the list,
Abercrombie and Josh reedman, all the others drew a blank.
Rick, a gig with 100 people sound like a great night ahead. These really small
venues would be the best setting listen to the trio. We have a lovely theatre
in our town which holds probably 200-250 and I have often thought that it would
be great to see more jazz trio's there. I guess the economics of it make this
type of venue commercially unviable.
