i thought my listening days were over with "zero tolerance for silence". i
still don't get that one. actors have films that are flops and musicians, even
those as great as PM, can make music that misses the mark. next question is:
what is the mark? who knows and maybe that's teh good thing about PM - the mark
is constantly moving. metheny-mehldau is an outstanding CD. i only wish i had a
bose lifestyle 48 system to play it on and to blast it and hear every nuance and
shake the walls. the cinematic and sweeping nature of PM music has always
captivated me. PM music is mind altering. i see in vivid detail...landscapes
moving by or waves or the commotion of a busy big city intersection when i
listen to PM. this latest CD is no exception. the interplay bewteen the
musicians, the tasty drum riffs, the broken and then connected melodies. how
does one be so good for so long?

Pat embraced something new (like the baritone guitar).

We all have our favorite albums as well as those we don't really care for.
However, I encourage you to learn to listen a little differently. Although
each project is an entity in and of itself, listening with the understanding
that each project is still a single step in a long journey will greatly
enhance your enjoyment. And, if you're like me, you'll eventually have a
greater appreciation for those projects that seem less palatable.

And that's my two cents worth.

OK, I have heard it maybe few times, but this is my first impression. Maybe
I was expecting too much.
