Welcome to Patsime, meaning “At the Well” in ChiShona.

Patsime’s central goal is to foster greater community and interaction among people in the Puget Sound region with an interest in Zimbabwean music and culture.

Our community is richly blessed with the presence of some of the musicians who were among the first students in the U.S to learn marimba and mbira music from Dumisani Maraire in the 1970s, as well as various other artists – both visiting and resident, North American and Zimbabwean – whose music expresses the depth and breadth of Shona and Ndebele traditions.

Over time, we hope our vast but disparate community, by joining together, will be better able to sponsor visiting artists, to lend support to those who host our visitors, to plan concerts and events together, and generally to live up to the depth and breadth of knowledge, talent and experience in this region.
