PATTI AUSTIN sang professionally when she was four years old. Born August 10, 1950, her career has spanned more than many people can say. The one constant is her beautiful voice – the voice that can help you at any stage of your life and almost any situation.
She was known as the jingle queen making a living from ads in the 60s-90s. Patti has a textbook of folks with whom she has worked like Al Jarreau, Quincy Jones, Rufus and Chaka Khan, James Ingram, the late Luther Vandross, Wynton Marsalis, Michael Jackson, Ashford and Simpson, Peabo Bryson, Cleve Francis, George Benson, Narada Michael Walden, Tom Browne, Steely Dan, Billy Joel, Roberta Flack, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, James Brown, Harry Belafonte, and her godmother the late Dinah Washington and El DeBarge & more!
Most know her from her vocals on "Baby, Come To Me," with James Ingram on Qwest Records in 1981. She worked with Harry Belafonte as her "college" education. She is also performing backgrounds on James Brown's "It's A Man's World". Patti released many singles including an early hit "Family Tree" in '69. She is classified as a Jazz singer but she has sung R&B. "The Heat Of Heat" produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis was one such occasion. Immediately after that album, "Gettin' Away With Murder", she released "The Real Me" CD, which includes some classic jazz tunes like "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "How Long Has This Been Going On?"
Come in and enjoy the warmth and bliss of the club. We are all pleasant individuals and welcome you to share your experiences with Patti or attempt to get to know her.
Ms. Austin has a brother Clyde that she mentioned in a radio interview in NY. According to one article she has three older brothers.
If you have any Patti news, concert info, event info or just general thoughts please post them. If you are a lukewarm fan, you are welcome. Even if you ARE Patti Austin! ;)
