Just wanted to say thanks for
joining!<br><br>Hopefully we can all help eachother's poster collections
grow without the setbacks of cons, rip-off's, and
overcharging. Hopefully, we can have a safe, honest place to
trade our posters, without fear of getting taken
advantage of... especially people new to posters!

If you've been asleep at the eBay wheel, Ames
Bros. have released @ 20 signed & #'d copies of the
Vegas poster selling outright for $50 each. This is
probably the way to go, as unsigned copies are selling for
more!?! I paid well over $100 for my unsigned copy before
finding out about Ames's auctions. <br><br>Be warned
however: Ame can be a handfull to deal with and they WON'T
release any #'s, saying "the sooner we get your order,
the lower the number will be." Judging by people
who've recieved them, they should be around #150-200.(a
total of 1050 copies were printed, most were sold at
the show, but Ames witheld an undisclosed number...
but signs the posters as #/1050)<br><br>I'd really
like to iron out this one...

Starting today (hopefully) I'll be posting daily
(well, at least a few times per week) updates on poster
sales from eBay, Yahoo, and other vendors, disclosing
prices in hope of establishing some sort of market value
for the posters.<br><br>Please Note:<br>I will only
list posters CURRENTLY being sold or traded, it would
be much to time consuming to generate a complete
catalog of all the PJ posters, not to mention the
accuracy of the prices would suffer... perhaps sometime in
the future...<br><br>Thanks,<br><br>Michael T.

I think this is a great idea for a
club.<br><br>Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has been emailed by
Dominic Nalo (email ofthegirl8@...) about a
poster trade? <br><br>I confirmed a trade from him for
my extra Boston '91 poster, and we were supposed to
mail them out on the same day. I mailed mine, but not
totally trusting this situation, I mailed mine to a
friend of mine in Canada (Dominic lives there). I
thought I would see what happens and then tell my friend
to forward the poster to Dominic. Anyway, after that
I have not heard one word from him, and he does not
return my emails.<br><br>Anyway, I guess this is just a

Well, I'd say that it IS a Pearl Jam poster,
everything on the poster pertains to the Wembley Arena,
London shows on May 5 & 6, 2000. I simply included it
because id DOES advertise a PJ show, asside from being
another cool piece by Kuhn. Which by the way is limited
to only 160 copies, get 'em while the gettin's good.
Actually I put the poster on the Not list because its hard
to find a low #, and people don't seem to be
interested in the available #'s. (which start in the
130's)<br><br>As for the "LA 2000" poster, I think you're refering
to the Vegas 2000's up on eBay. Ames sent me a
letter indicating they were putting them up to "help
keep the price affordable for everyone" the day after
one closed for $162.50 on eBay. Unfortunately, the
history of the Ames Sig# pieces is a little unclear, so
it seems like people are going for the unsigned
copies (which we know came from the show, some have
speculated that the Ames prints are a SECOND printing, and
NOT from the same lot as the unsigned posters that
were available at the show, which would make them
worth less than a first printing...)

Some very good points. But my point/question
about the Kuhn Monkeywrench is that just because a
poster says "Pearl Jam" does not actually make it a
Pearl Jam poster? (more examples: the Rolling Stones
'97 poster, The Who HOB w/Ed and C Average). Looking
at the poster, one would almost think Monkeywrench
was the opening act, and Pearl Jam opened. It just
looks like the poster was commissioned by Monkeywrench,
and the fact that there is a promo poster and an Ames
poster is more evidence. But this is all irrelevant, the
poster advertises a Pearl Jam/Monkeywrench event, which
is makes it desirable, and it's low print number
makes it more so.<br><br>As for your point about the
Vegas posters, I have wondered about this greatly
myself. When Ames started distributing the posters after
the shows, the poster numbers that I got from them
were very low. To me, they should have been high
(after the ones they distributed at the show). Another
thing that concerns me is that several times after
asking about one of my orders, they told me that posters
were being held up at the printers. How can this be
unless they are doing reprints? And if so, is there any
way to tell them apart (maybe the unsigned ones ARE
worth more than the signed ones)? Does anyone else have
more information or anything to add? I asked Ames a
couple of times for info, but I really did not get
anything.

A few people have brought this to my attention,
and this needs IMMEADIATE answering. There is much
speculation about the origin of the PJ posters available from
Ames Design. On a number of occasions, Ames has given
out conflicting informaion about print run numbers,
making the authenticity of the LE prints questionable.
(Hell I just got the Chicago 1998 poster, #42 of 1300,
how does that happen almost 4 years after the poster
sold out, I was there at Alpine Valley when it sold
out at about 6pm Fri 6/26/98, I think I should have a
slightly higher # than 42.)<br><br>If anyone has ANY
information about this, please let me know immeadiately, this
will have SERIOUS effects on the market once this is
sorted out.

Well, the easiest and cheapest thing to do is buy
whatever they have available from the ten club. Their
selection seems to be changing pretty frequently lately,
and if history is any indication, it won't last long

Michael you asked me this before and I thought
I'd post it here for the opinions of
others:<br><br>For example:<br>1998 Alpine Valley Poster (1300 print
run)<br><br>Does xxx sold at show + LE sold by Ames =
1300<br><br>or <br><br>Does 1300 sold at show + LE = Total print
run?<br><br>I wish I had an answer to that question. I'm as
much in the dark as anyone else. As far as you
receiving #42 from Ames, if it's true that Ames keeps some
of the original print run (i.e. equation #1 holds
true), it wouldn't surprise me that they keep the first
"x" amount of prints, meaning that a poster you
purchase from them would be a low number. Just my
thoughts. Any other ideas?<br><br>Chris

I have possibly an answer to the LE poster
mystery. <br><br>I just realized that an order I received
from Ames early in November included a note that
said:<br><br>"Some of the items you have ordered haven't arrived
from our printer..."<br><br>The posters that I did not
receive with the order were the Boston and NY posters.
Obviously these were made a long time before November, so
if these were originals they obvously would have
"arrived from the printer." <br><br>Interestingly enough,
I received the Boston and NY posters today in the
mail, coinciding with the release of additional Boston
and NY posters on Tenclub.net. <br><br>I'm not sure
if all that means anything, I just thought I'd throw
it out there...<br><br>Chris

Yup, Ten Club is DEFINATELY the way to go.
HOWEVER<br>I'm pretty sure you have to be a member
(0nly$10/year) and, more importantly, the posters go FAST!! even
at the 2 copy limit. (2k Germany Mosaic went in
&lt;week, along w/New York I think, I actually got the
LA/Fresno from 10C)<br><br>eBay isn't the end of the world,
hell I buy posters on there everyday, but you have to
know what your bidding on, and have a trustworhty
person selling the piece, and you have to know what your
bidding on. I'd say it's a safe bet to buy any 2k Ames
Bros. poster for &lt;$30 (Gas Mask posters are promo's
I'd say around $10 ea.) <br><br>Keep in mind the 2k
posters probably won't increase in value that much for a
while, posters are typically a long term investment
(please no letters about the Pollock poster explosion...
I don't have any now, and never had any to begin
with, but watched many peolpe rake in $$$$) Which
brings me to mt next point, pay attention to the artist,
most of the PJ stuff is done by Ames Brothers Design
in Seattle, WA. However, other artists do a few
posters here and there. Linsdey Kuhn has 2 beautiful 2k
pieces; 5/29,30 London "Monkeywrench" signed #'d 160
copies, 10/21 Pheonix, AZ SIG# 269 copies. <br><br>Ames
Bros. has a list that circulates of signed and #'d
posters for direct sale. The 2000's are reasonably
priced, but they go UP QUICKLY as you go back through the
years (96's are typically $150-300). HOWEVER read the
posts for the last few days, we have serious doubts
about the authenticity of the Ames Limited Editions,
some are beginning to speculate they're a second
printing...<br><br>... Ames if you're reading this, it's getting REALLY
WIERD, please help clear this up.......<br><br>Well, I
hope this helps, check out my Hot/Not list for what's
going around. (Hot is the hottest selling, and Not is
the 5 least selling/interesting)<br><br>If you have
any other questions, feel free to post them. Also,
post us a list of the 2 posters you have, and we'll
see if someone can help you out.<br><br>good

A thought just occured to me. I had to send back
2 of the Germany/Central Europe posters by Ames
(the mosaic of the Astronaught's head) to Ten Club,
due to packing damage. <br><br>Note: these were the
only 2 posters in tube. <br><br>these Germany posters
are printed on thick photo paper, which isn't as
thick as the stock silkscreen posters are printed on.
As we all know, silkscreens love to unroll
themselves, and can sometimes be a handfull to get into a
tube. Once in the tube though, it is the expansive
quality of the stock that pushes outward on the tube,
helping to hold the poster in place from sliding side to
side. Both of my Germany posters arrived with end
damage from being rolled unevenly, sliding side-to-side
in the tube, and that was compounded by the thinner
photo paper it's made of.<br><br>Please note to handle
this poster with a little extra care. Be sure to
secure it in a tube by putting bubble wrap or garbage
bags on the ends of the tube between the poster and
the caps. They would probably fare better if rolled
inside of another poster for shipping. They were a
really cool poster, too bad I had to send them back.

These can be found at shipping supply stores like Mail

the garbage bag around the poster. Tuck in the ends
