I'm as bad as everyone else. I guess we are too busy with our own
problems but it would be nice to hear from some of the oldies but
goodies once and a while.
I check the board but never see anything. I DO wish I was closer
instead of stuck here in Jersey (trust me it was hell after the
Superbowl - even people that weren't Giants fans rubbed my face in it -
they are worse than Yankee fans) and when I come up it's usually to run
errands for the ex and the son. I'll have to find a way to make time
to make a visit to a practice one of these weekends.
Came close to moving back in April but the company I was interviewing
with couldn't make it worth my while financially BUT, true story, I was
close enough that I put a depoist down on an apartment in Peabody and
then the day after I turned them down the place in Peabody had a
massive fire and the building I was going to be in burned to the
ground. fate I guess.
Nights like this really remind me of the old days. Hot, sticky nights
with the air so thick you could cut it with knife. Remember that lovely
smell of Right Guard and diesel fumes by the buses. Do they even make
Right Guard any more or are there too many hydrocarbons in it?
These were the nights some of us would sneak over to Hobomock for a
midnight swim.
Think of it, back then sometimes we would have a show on Friday night,
Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Never thought of it but it really
must have been hell for management and the parents to get or keep our
stuff cleaned for all the shows especially the years when we had
inspections.
Was it me or wasn't every I.C.Queensmen show on the hottest Sunday in
Winchester and I think there was only one tree in the whole place for
shade?
Why didn't Eastern Mass just call it Class B instead of AII?
Went to a show here in Jersey recently - not the same. May seem silly
but I miss the Class C corps and the Drill Teams. No offense to the
transplanted drill team members but that was always the good time to go
get hot dogs or whatever food fair the local units had. I think thats
why I really enjoy the dirty water dogs from the carts in NY. I swear
everytime I go into the city on business I save room from lunch to hit
one of the carts on the way back to the ferry to Jersey. Two dogs and
a cream soda - heaven - and I get to taste them the whole drive back to
Parsippany.
The shows now are really pretty but I guess the term I would use is too
professional - I miss the botched up solos on these humid nights.
Plus they are too fast - five or six corps and then it's over. We usd
to get our moneys worth - 5 Class C's, 5 or so Class AII's; Drill Teams
and then Class A - a good five or six hours usually for 2 bucks.
Well going to sign off bvut hope to see some posts. Anyone know here
Eddie Williams is or Stevie Berthiuame or John Turner?
