Just to keep you updated.
Four Times Over, the group launching their tribute CD and website
today, have been in touch to tell me they have not yet been able to
get their website on line. It sounds like their service provider is
suffering the same kind of problem which affected the Peter Doyle
Website a couple of weeks ago.
The new website will be launched as soon as possible and the CD is now
available.
For more information about the CD and how to buy it visit the Peter
Doyle Website Newspage at www.peterdoylewebsite.net as I get more
information about the new site launch or about the CD itself I will
update that page.

In case any of you were wondering, yes, I am still here and so is the
website, in spite of the fact it disappeared off the face of the
internet for over a week. If you have visited it recently and got an
odd message instead of the site, do have another look, it is back and
all is well. The problem was well beyond my control and my apologies
to anybody who may have been confused by what they found there.
I know from my mail that every year lots of us mark Peter's birthday
on the 28th July with a special session of listening to Peter's music
or looking through our prized collection of pictures and articles and
just generally remembering Peter and thinking of his family and
friends. I know I will at least be playing some of his music - how
about you?
Some people like to do more and this year there is a new CD being
released to coincide with Peter's birthday. It is by Dutch duo Four
Times Over and includes songs Peter wrote, sang and was part of during
his New Seeker years. I'm waiting on the actual launch to have more
information for you, but as soon as it is available, I will pass it on
so - watch this space, or keep an eye on the website!

Helen, really sorry I didn't get back to answer this sooner. At the
moment I have no news of any further releases from Peter, but
obviously, if that situation changes, I will post it on the website,
on the group and anywhere else I can think to spread the news!
In the meantime I hope you - and everybody else enjoy the video clips
and let's hope there are soon more of those available.

A big 'Hi' to all the new people who have signed up to the group in
recent months. News has been a bit thin ground recently, but
sometimes I find life gets in the way of website updates!
However, I have finally managed to complete the Links Page update and
added some video links to the website. All the clips include Peter, I
am well aware there are lots of other New Seeker clips about, but I
felt it would be useful just to get the Peter Doyle clips together on
the website. I've linked to all the different ones I can find but if
I've missed any please let me know.
Neil Gray has put another Peter Doyle track on his MySpace, this one
is from when they were both in Skinflick in the eighties and is a long
way removed from New Seeker material! If you haven't heard it, go and
listen - Neil changes his MySpace music quite regularly. You will
find it at:

Some of us who were around in the 60s and 70s have been lucky enough
to appreciate Peter's music from the start, but its always good to
know his music appeals to a younger audience who weren't even born
when Peter was at his peak. The latest of these I have heard of is
Lyn Paul's son Ryan and you can read a quote from Lyn on the Peter
Doyle website news page, but I wonder how many other people have
discovered Peter Doyle more recently. I'd love to hear from you and
how you first became interested in Peter's music.
Can you remember the moment you first realised that you were a fan, or
can you remember the song which first got you hooked to Peter's music?
Gwyneth
It's great seeing the clips with Peter singing in them. This was my
favourite line up.
Is there any news of another CD from Peter? Looking forward to more of
his music.
Thanks,
Helen

That time of the year again already and whilst most people have been
rushing around doing all their shopping and putting the finishing
touches to the Christmas decorations, I've been putting the finishing
touches to the first stage of a website update. It is early days and
only a few pages are completed but as well as a new look there is also
a text version of the site for people who use speech readers or
specialist browsers. The update and new text version of the website
will happen side by side.
As always, let me know if you have any problems with broken links or
accessing any pages of the website and please let me know what you
think of the new developments.
I've had news that Peter Doyle's Mum became a great grandma for the
third time last month, with the arrival of Alexander Munro.
Congratulations to all the family, it sounds like they are in for a
very happy Christmas!
Whether you are partying your way right through, or are hoping for
some real Peace, I hope Christmas is all you want it to be and have a
very Merry New Year!

my feelings as to who this great tune belongs to is PETER DOYLE,although he
didnt actually write it,his superb voice made it his own.He did however write
the B side,AND SO IN LIFE which in my mind should have been an A side
release. The eldest recording on the said album was 1973.RIP PETER.XXX

Whether or not it should be considered a solo track or a New Seekers

Sadly, it hasn't so far been released on to CD so the best chance of
getting a copy of your own is to check in places like e-bay,

28th July and as I am sure you don't need me to remind you, it's
Peter's birthday time again, hard to think it is nearly 6 years since

I have just updated the website, there is a new page in the Gallery:

with two new family pictures including Peter and also a whole page of
Memories:
http://www.peterdoylewebsite.net/thisnthat/0110/0160s.htm
This is something I have wanted to develop for quite a while on the
site, but has been helped along considerably by the fact that I have
heard from a number of people in the past 2 months all with memories
to share. Let us know what you think of the latest additions and if
you have any memories to share either post them here or mail them to

As a teen I had a huge crush on Peter, my bedroom walls were covered in
new seekers posters, especially one's with just Peter. I only saw
them live once at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh,I had a good seat a few
rows from the front, I remember a group of us standing in front of the
stage towards the end of the show. After the show we waited in front
of the Caledonian hotel, there were a few of us standing around. Lyn
and Peter arrived together , for a minute I had a real close up view
when they walked past and went through the revolving doors. Lyn was
wearing a camel colour wrap around belted coat, funny the things you
remember. I was on cloud nine getting a close up view of my idol, but
too shy then to speak. I think they stayed at Post House Hotel the next
time they came to the Usher Hall, I did,nt get to see them then.Lost
interest in seeing them after Peter left, at the time I felt nobody
could replace Peter,he was the sound of the New Seekers. I had no
interest in seeing Peter Oliver in his place, just was'nt the same.
Any other Peter Doyle fans feel the same.

Hi Georgette & welcome aboard. I went through an age of wondering if
I was Peter's only fan, but in the last few years I've begun to
realise there are loads of us! The fans I've been lucky enough to get
to know have all turned out to be lovely people and they all have
their own stories to share, so come on gang - how about sharing some
of your stories with the WebGroup for our newer members?
Did you ever meet Peter, Georgette? I never did and I only saw him in
concert once, with the New Seekers. I first "discovered" him with the
Virgil Brothers on TV in the UK and have been a fan of his music ever
since.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the site, sorry I haven't got back to you sooner, I've got
too many things to juggle just now! It's always great to hear from
someone who has followed Peter's career for so long - we don't hear
enough from his pre-New Seeker days (hi Bonnie - I know you are there
too!) The Grandma's Tonic singles are like gold dust, otherwise, just
one track "Lost Girl" has appeared on a rare CD: "Lost Tonic" and on a
couple of LPs which occasionally come up on e-bay: "Before Birdmen
Flew Vol 1" and "Ugly Things Vol 2". As much as I would like as many
people as possible to hear Peter's music, in the interests of
copyright laws, artist's rights etc. I have to put on my moderator's
hat and say I can't condone open trading on the board but I certainly
wish you every success in tracking down the rest of your collection.

It seems right now, that "everyone" has been drawing my attention to
MySpace, so in the interests of furthering my knowledge, I've been
looking into it. You are probably aware by now that the New Seekers
have their own page - this is mostly the current line-up but there is
a video and a picture or two from Peter Doyle's days After further
searching around, I discovered Neil Gray's MySpace Page, complete with
a track by Peter! If you have a copy of Rarities (and if not, why
not? LOL!) you will know that Neil remastered the tracks for the CD
and for a while in the eighties, they both performed in the same
bands. You can find Peter's song "Bad to Me" here:

Otherwise, there are a few more songs added to the new "Sounds
Like....." feature on the website and another picture to the "Next
Generation" page on the website gallery.
And having been interrupted in the middle of this for a phone call, I
hope it all makes sense!

Hello to all PD fans - although I have just joined this forum, I have
followed Peter's career since the mid sixties. I am trying to track
down the two Grandma's Tonic singles. Can any one assist me with a
tape, mp3 or cdr of these four rare songs.I have Peter's first album
on cdr or could put his singles or Skin deep album on cdr as a trade
or negociate a monetary payment. Hope someone can help. Regards

Hi All!
Contrary to popular opinion, I haven't gone into hibernation in fact
I've been back working on the website. If you get the mailing list
Newsletter you will already know that another website update is in
progress, an attempt to check all links and update information, for
now concentrating on the Song Info section and related Who's Who
links. It's also been the inspiration for a whole new feature Sounds
Like...... which lists other versions of songs from Peter's recording
career, along with alternative songs with the same title and lots of
links - links to other artists' information, lyrics pages and sound
clips, so you can compare some of them for yourselves. It's still in
it's early stages though, I have only covered the songs beginning with
A and B so far. I'd like to make it a truly comprehensive listing,
but since I have found around 400 references to different recordings
of 'Blowin in the Wind', alone, I've decided to move on to other songs
for now and come back to certain titles later. If you know of any
versions of any of the songs you want me to include, please do pass on
the details.
Would anybody like to start the ball rolling here with their favourite
or least-liked versions (by anybody) of Peter Doyle/Grandma's
Tonic/Virgil Brothers/New Seekers?
There is a new e-mail address for website messages. Sadly, like so
many others, the Peter Doyle Website e-mail address has been a target
for junk mail and the spam filter is having a hard job sorting the
genuine messages from the rubbish and so I have created what I hope
will be a safer system with a new address. I won't tempt
address-crawlers by publishing the new address on the message board
but the old one will be kept open for a while and you can always go to
the website and follow the "contact me" links if in doubt.
In the meantime....... Happy Easter!
