Dear fellow members,
Just a message to let you know that I'm organising a Phil Ochs tribute night
here in the UK.
It will take place at the 12 Bar Club, Denmark Street, London WC2H 8NL
www.12barclub.com on Wednesday 16 September.
It came about because I've been a fan since the early 90s when I heard Andy
Kershaw play some of his records on the radio. Recently I came to know Bob
Rafkin and found out that he'd played with Phil quite a bit back in the days
(including at the infamous Carnegie Hall concert!). Bob comes over to London
every September to do a few gigs and when I suggested the idea of a Phil Ochs
tribute night he was very enthusiastic. So Bob's going to do "Changes" and
"There But For Fortune" and share some memories of working with Phil and there
will a number of other performers doing 2 Phil Ochs songs each. I can't confirm
the line-up yet but I've got a few other definites and a number of people I'm
waiting to hear back from.. It looks like it's going to be enough for a good
evening but I'm still looking for a couple more acts at the moment. I will be
performing myself (doing "When I'm Gone" and "No More Songs").
Anyway, I will let you know the final line-up details when I have them.
Best wishes
