My review of Peter Gabriel's "UP"
First off I have to say that the album is really the best album I
heard this year. It was well worth the wait for my anyhow. I think
this record needs to be appreciated, taken seriously and shouldn't be
judged negative. My opinion about the album is if you have it or get
it, give it a chance it'll grow on you and even if it doesn't, no big
deal. Ok. Here is my review of the tracks:
Darkness: A good song not my favorite yet it's good.
Growing up: Very good song. I am having a great time with this
track. This song is over 7 minutes long but it's really good if you
like long songs.
Sky Blue: This track is another of my favorites. I liked it the first
time I heard this one during Peter preview on
http://www.petergabriel.com It sounds really different a true Peter
Fan will appreciated.
No way out: I have not spent too much time with this one, but what I
heard of the track it sounds really good.
I Grief: This is not the City of Angels version. Totally different. I
can say it like this: This is Peter's Version of the song. I am
eluting to the way the tracks were on Tarzan, there were the film
versions and Phil's versions. Great bridge, great song.
The Barry Williams Show: Very good song. Good choice for being the
first single.
My head sounds like that: I have only listened to this track a few
times. It sounds really different.
Good song.
More than this: I have spent a little bit time to listen to this
track and I have heard people compare it to Big time but I don't see
it. Anyhow you can't go wrong with this one. This song will be the
second single from what I heard.
Signal to Noise: I have not listened to this track that much but what
I heard from it it sounds really good.
The Drop: Great song to close the record just Peter with a few
instruments
In conclusion: This album is a MUST. For Every Peter Gabriel fan this
is the one missing if you don't already have it. For me this song is
second on my list following SO. A 10 on a 1 - 10 Scale never the less.
The CD is also enhanced. The Lyrics are not in the booklet, however
it's on the enhanced portion of the disc.
So if you don't have this CD yet, get UP and hurry to the music store
