Re: braindance recording new album; launching myspace page   Message List

Hi all,

I guess I have to express an opinion here.  First I have to tell you as both a fan of the music and a musician myself I've been more than just a little disapointed in the group.  Which isn't pointing any fingers at members, the current exchange has really lead me to wonder if the extreme quiet in the group since the time of my joining isn't out of fear of what can be shared here concerning the music.

We all  have different taste' in this form of music.  I thought it would be cool to be able to get a taste of some different things that maybe I hadn't found on my own as well as I had thought it would be neat to get some feedback concerning the song sample up on my site at http://scottblack.net  I don't have anything up on my site for sale at this time.  I had just thought it would be nice to share something of my own creation and see what anyone may think of it.  Again, after posting that last time around when I first joined quite some time ago I never heard anyone's comments or opinions regarding the piece.  I've since put up a better quality sound sample of the piece as well as let a little more of the song up for your listening enjoyment.

If anything I guess if that isn't welcome here then maybe some one should start a group to share how they feel about the music as well as giving people the chance to check out newer music that isn't on major lables as well stuff that is.  When I joined this group that was really what I thought it was all about, not getting mad.  If some one is trying to sell something on here that's a totally different story, but from what I've read from this persons post I didn't get that at all.  I thought we were all here to make new friends and share idea's, musicians make music to share, not just to profit, it is a deep part of who we are.

Scott

Subject: Re: [pilgrimworld] braindance recording new album; launching myspace page

sorry, angry and myopic guy -

first off,  the term progressive was not used to classify 'spam' -

it was, and has been used to describe the music of the actual band, braindance, over the past 14 years.  for example,  wikipedia define progressive music as a certain approach to musical composition that has been applied to several different music genres. they also define progressive rock as music that expands traditional musical structures by adopting influences of jazz, symphonic, folk and world music.

furthermore, pilgrimworld invites people to join their list to "share thoughts and exchange information about progressive and powerful metal music."  tetsu himself has expressed to us directly that it is very welcome for everyone to post anything related to progressive kind of rock and metal in general.

secondly, the aim was not to sell a cd -

the aim was to turn open-minded people on to the band by inviting them to their myspace page and join their friends list, as well as to inform them that a new album was in the works...we don't need to post for sales, and nowhere in the posting was a request for money or purchase of any kind..

you are so angry and so bent on maintaining a forum that punishes those people who you believe have violated your private 'code', that you haven't even bothered to read the actual posting...

perhaps if you had read the actual posting, and then felt that it was inappropriate, you should have simply stated so, instead of rudely demanding free cd's twice, and then continuing to harshly chastise members of our staff under the pretention that you are speaking on behalf of your associates...

in fact, we have already received several transmissions from members of your group that have apologized for your childish, vindictive, misplaced anger -

perhaps you might look towards finding another avenue for this insecurity before you continue to embarrass everyone around you...

please stop harassing us -

no further,

marta

Well,

I have so much respect for Tetsu that I will be short about it: It is incredible how people can justify spam by using the "sacred" words "progressive". If one uses "progressive", so spamming is ok?

Your aims were to sell a cd, Am I correct? Should you have jposted something like "Hi my name is Marta, I am an executive for a prog rock band and I wanted to let you know about them". It is so much easier to copy and paste a newsletter to a mailing list. We have been having massive attack of spammers on yahoo groups. If it were you to tell me about the band Marta I would probably have checked out the band and probably would buy the album If I liked. I rather enjoy to accept friends recommendations.

"obnoxious behavior". Take a look, you enter a bar see a group of people sitting down and chatting and come in to tell them : hey Braindance rocks, buy their albums!

No further,

Daniel

sorry, crusading condescending guy - i just read the goal of the group again, and i can certainly see how exchanging information about progressive music on the list would justify your nasty attitude...

perhaps you could start your own list where obnoxious behavior and harsh treatment of new members is tolerated...

good luck,

Come on dude, I don't honestly care. You are spamming on a mailing list, I am not sure why Tetsu allowed your SPAM. I have been a member of this list since it has started and I find weird how you have been -just- "nice" by sending flyers to people that didnt request it.
