CAN YOU SING SOPRANO OR TENOR? THE PINK SINGERS NEED YOU!
Diary date: Sunday afternoons from 12th September 2004.
Venue: The Place, 17 Duke's Road, London WC1.
If you enjoy singing with others, why not join the Pink Singers, London’s
lesbian and gay community chorus? The choir starts a new season of weekly
rehearsals on Sunday afternoons from 12th September 2004 and is looking to
recruit new tenor and soprano voices.
Please be advised that we are currently operating a waiting list for new
members wishing to join the the alto and bass/baritone sections but this
does not apply to former members of those sections who are familiar with the
Pink Singers' repertoire over the last couple of years – we need you too!
There is no formal audition to join the Pink Singers, just a simple voice
test to establish your vocal range. You don't need to be able to read music
and all levels of experience are welcome, though you need to be able to hold
a tune!
Recent repertoire has included opera, jazz, pop and classical, so there's
something for every taste. This season's repertoire will include a Beach
Boys medley, a Madonna medley, big band numbers and opera choruses, which
the choir will perform at a special 21st anniversary concert at the Royal
Academy of Music on Saturday 11th December.
The Pink Singers rehearse and perform to a high standard and a high level of
commitment is expected. For those who love singing and can attend rehearsals
on a regular basis, the choir offers an immensely rewarding experience. As a
community choir, the Pink Singers' aim is to offer support to the lesbian
and gay community, both by providing a welcoming and very sociable
environment for lesbians and gay men to meet and develop their musical
skills and also by participating in fundraising events for charities that
offer support to lesbians and gay men.
New members who would like to join the choir and can attend rehearsals from
September onwards should phone the new members hotline on 07020 934 916 or
e-mail: joining@....
