Dear friend

There are two forthcoming Pink Singers events that we'd like you to know about, first and foremost our 21st anniversary concert, which takes place on Saturday 11th December (details below), and secondly a sponsored walk organized by the choir, which takes place this Saturday, 6th November.

A team of walkers from the Pink Singers will be completing a six-mile stretch of the Queen's silver Jubilee walk to raise funds for travel to the Various Voices European choir festival in Paris 2005. Your support is needed to ensure that as many choir members as possible can attend and represent the UK in this very successful festival. If you would like to sponsor the Pink Singers, please call 07020 934 678 and mention this e-mail.

Diary date: Saturday 11th December 2004, 7.30p.m.

The Big Birthday Bash,

a 21st anniversary celebration,

at the Royal Academy of Music

21 years after their foundation, the Pink Singers, Europe's oldest lesbian and gay choir, return to the Royal Academy of Music in London for a special anniversary concert.

The Pink Singers were formed in 1983 by gay cabaret activist Mark Bunyan and the late Brian Kennedy, gay journalist, publisher and activist, to sing at that year's Gay Pride Festival. 21 years later and stronger than ever under the leadership of Musical Director Mladen Stankovic, the choir has notched up an impressive number of performances throughout the UK, Europe and America, has appeared on radio and TV and even backed Bronski Beat on their first album, "Age of Consent".

The Big Birthday Bash will feature some of the choir's favourite pieces from its 21-year history, encompassing a wide range of musical styles from big band to opera to classic 60s pop, together with some exciting new arrangements including the choir's own tribute to Madonna – "Pink Ambition". The programme will include some choreographed pieces and solo performances. The concert will be sign-language interpreted.

There will also be a bar with a late licence, so celebrations can continue after the concert…åååå

Tickets are available now at £12 each (£10 concessions). Please try to book in advance (ticket line: 07020 934 678), as the concert is expected to be a sell-out.

Duke's Hall is part of the Royal Academy of Music and is situated on Marylebone Road, London NW1. The nearest tube station is Baker Street.

Doors open at 7.00p.m and the concert starts at 7.30p.m. Help us make it a night to remember!
