The Pink Singers are hosting two social events on 21st and 22nd March. All proceeds go to the Pink Singers and will help fund two trips to sing abroad which we have planned for this year. So please come along and support us, everyone’s welcome! Full details are below and at http://www.pinksingers.co.uk/2_1.html

Tuesday 21st March, 7.45pm – a night at the theatre!

We have a number of cut-price tickets to see “Old Big ‘Ead” in The Spirit of the Man by Stephen Lowe, showing at the beautiful Richmond Theatre in southwest London. Tickets are only £5 each for good dress circle seats – what a bargain! You can book online at http://www.pinksingers.co.uk/2_1.html

"A play which everyone can enjoy" (The Guardian)

"The fun is tremendous. An overwhelming success" (The Times)

The Spirit of the Man is a brand new play about Brian Clough, the greatest football manager England never had. Written by the award-winning Stephen Lowe, this feel good comedy drama is a hilarious speculative fantasy that follows Nottingham Forest’s legendary football manager, eerily portrayed by Colin Tarrant (best remembered as Inspector Monroe from The Bill) beyond the final whistle and into extra time.

Not one to take death lying down, Old Big ‘Ead jumps at the chance of returning to this earthly realm to dispense his own special brand of inspiration. But there’s one thing he hasn’t bargained on: it’s a writer-director called Jimmy who’s in need of assistance, and his personal and professional life is falling apart at the seams. Then finally with Jimmy’s play written and a bunch of dysfunctional actors thrown together, Clough wastes no time in helping to knock the team into shape.

This is a production that has something for everyone, from the most theatre-shy football fan to the most sports-hating culture vulture and everybody in between. The Spirit of the Man takes Cloughie away from the realm of football and into a more unusual world of theatre with some tremendously funny moments. It has music, a play-within-a-play, poignant moments, belly laughs by the bucketload and a huge sense of spectacle!

Wednesday 22nd March, 7.30–10.30pm – Race Night at Bar Aquda, Covent Garden

“Buy” or bet on a horse and have the chance of winning cash and/or one of several prizes, including two nights bed and breakfast in Amsterdam!

Feel the thrill of the race, from the comfort of Bar Aquda. Have a flutter and the excitement of willing your horse to win.

Intrigued? Throughout the evening, seven horse races will be shown on a big screen at Bar Aquda in Maiden Lane, Covent Garden. Before the event, you have the opportunity to “buy” a horse for the bargainous sum of £5, name it whatever you like (here’s an opportunity to come up with some witty/camp/saucy suggestions!) and have your name in the programme. If your horse wins the race, you win a prize such as a meal for two at Rupert Street.
You can also just turn up on the evening without having purchased a horse and instead have a flutter with the chance of winning cash. In the last race, all the horses are auctioned off. If you buy a horse in this race and it wins, you will win two nights bed and breakfast in Amsterdam!

Lastly, and on a different note…

The history of the Pink Singers

We’re keen to hear from any former members of the Pink Singers who sang with the choir in the 1980s and 1990s, to help with an ongoing project to document our history. We’d like to hear from anyone who has a story to tell and can relate their experiences of what life was like in the Pink Singers and in the last two decades of the 20th Century. If you would like to help, please contact webmaster@...
