21 years after their foundation, the Pink Singers, Europe's oldest lesbian and gay choir, return to the Royal Academy of Music in London for a special anniversary concert.
The Pink Singers were formed in 1983 by gay cabaret activist Mark Bunyan and the late Brian Kennedy, gay journalist, publisher and activist, to sing at that year's Gay Pride Festival. 21 years later and stronger than ever under the leadership of Musical Director Mladen Stankovic, the choir has notched up an impressive number of performances throughout the UK, Europe and America, has appeared on radio and TV and even backed Bronski Beat on their first album, "Age of Consent".

The concert will be sign-language interpreted by Steve Hudson.
There will also be a bar with a late licence, so celebrations can continue after the concert…åååå
Tickets can be booked in advance on: 07020 934 678, or bought on the door. If you wish to buy tickets on the night, please try to arrive in good time, as the concert is expected to be a sell-out. Doors open at 7.00p.m and the concert starts at 7.30p.m.

Your support is needed to ensure that as many choir members as possible can attend and represent the UK in this very successful festival. Thing Off".
You’re also in for a treat with our very talented guest choir, Mannenkoorts,
all the way from the Hague, Netherlands. At last year’s Various Voices
lesbian and gay choir festival in Berlin, this gay, male-voice double
quartet received a standing ovation for their set, which included a
choreographed rendition of "Under the Boardwalk".
Once again, the grandeur and good acoustics of Dukes Hall provide the
perfect setting for this not-to-be-missed event. The concert will be
sign-language interpreted.
Tickets are available in advance at £8 (£5 concs) each by phoning: 07020 934
678, or can be bought on the door for £10 (£5 concs) each. Dukes Hall is
part of the Royal Academy of Music and is situated on Marylebone Road,
London NW1. The nearest tube station is Baker Street.
Be sure to put it in your diary!

THE PINK SINGERS
****************
start a new season of rehearsals
THIS SUNDAY, 13TH JANUARY 2002, 2-5pm at
THE DRILL HALL, CHENIES STREET, LONDON W1 (nearest tube: GOODGE ST)
We welcome all new/returning members who would like to join us!
BASSES and SOPRANOS are particularly needed.
We'll be rehearsing 'A Gershwin Portrait', a medley of Gershwin's songs,
which we'll be performing in April this year at Duke's Hall.
We're also planning a trip to Toronto, Canada at the end of June/beginning
of July, to sing at the Canadian GALA Choruses Festival and Toronto Gay
Pride!
For those of you who are new to the choir, we rehearse weekly on Sundays at
the Drill Hall and we don't audition new members. You don't need to be able
to read music and all voices and levels of experience are welcome, though it
helps if you can hold a tune!
For further details, contact our information line on: 07020 934 916
See you on Sunday!
