Hi folks, I want to keep you aware of the Laughing Madcaps/Texas
Psych Memorial Day Weekend Kosmic Kampout Extravaganza. We will be
camping up on Mingus above Jerome, Arizona. It's going to be a lot of
fun. Tim Nunn is helping me coordinate this and we will both be up on
Mingus that Thursday afternoon. We'll each grab a few camping spots
and hold `em. It's only $10.00 per night to camp. I'm sure that the
Camp Host will let us crowd a few tents together too as long as we
pay. I have a tent so I camp in one area. There's another area for
trailers/campers. Hot showers are available down the mountain in
Cottonwood as are motels/restaurants for the less adventurous.

Jerome is an old copper mining town that went belly up in the
Thirties. It was a ghost town for thirty years before the hippies
began squatting in the buildings in the Sixties. So many hippies came
to live that the town sprang back to life. It's like a Woodstock, or
New Paltz, or Ithaca, type of town now. It's a hippie town. The
population is a mixture of hippies/artists/bikers. The economy runs
on tourism. It's a total party town. They will certainly have
something going on Memorial Day like an outdoor concert or biker
jamboree. Their Halloween party is famous Statewide. So, Jerome is
way cool. It's perched on the side of Mingus and is nothing but bars,
kitschy shops and places to eat. There're all kinds of longhaired
smiling people too. We'll be camped there.

Sedona is only 27 miles away. That's nothing because the speed limit
is 75 in Arizona and traffic flows at 80+. Sedona is minutes away.
That's Red Rocks Country and is world famous for it's beauty.
Remember the old Road Runner cartoons with all the red buttes and
cliffs? That's Sedona. It's breathtaking. Sedona is way New Age too.
There are all kinds of strange shit happening there from palm
readings to Korrilian photography. Again, it's nothing but shops and
places to eat. You can buy Native American crafts there. I've gotten
some way cool turquoise jewelry.

Flagstaff is only a little further than Sedona and it's a way
picturesque drive. Flagstaff is about 10,000-11,000 feet up! So, what
I'm saying is that this whole area is way cool and just drips stuff
to do and places to go.
