Desiring God used to charge 20% of the cost of the books for
international shipping.

I was going to order one of the books, and the shipping was quoted at
$24. That is a steep price for sending a $5 book.

I once bought some books for $3 USD each in the US, which were hugely
discounted [in Australia they cost about $50 AUD]. So I was prepared to
pay about $5 USD per book for shipping.

But $24 on a $5 book is not so exciting.
