Pastor Piper directs almost every message he gives to challenge me to
take up the risky and joyful life of going outside the camp to suffer
with my Lord. We are under orders to evangelize the world and take on
localized demonic forces with the spiritual gifts, the signs and
wonders with which the apostles accomplished so much. I'm attending a
Reformed Church who would agree with Banner of Truth's refusal to
publish the later works of Martyn LLoyd-Jones because of his vigourous
defense of spiritual gifts and revival. Almost of all of John Piper's
heros including his natural father were and are cessationsits - yet,
for him, "their arguements just don't work".
Hoping to model my own entrance into this topic on Pastor Piper's love
and grace towards those who disagree with him, I am making my self
available to God to raise this question. Anyone out there in my
situation? Pro or con.
