Folks,

I wanted to send out a reminder that our 34 1/2 year-old tradition of meeting every Wednesday night to commit Folk Music still continues!!  Our location for the past six years is:

 

"Mike's Place" (aka "Elmer's North"),

165 South River Street

(Rt. 25 - 1/3 mi. S. of Rt. 56),

North Aurora IL

They give us the side dining room and a waitress and the rest is up to us!  Folks start showing up around 7 PM to chat & order food or refreshments, and the singing usually starts around 7:30 and continues until Midnight or 1 AM if Folks want to play that late.  The format is "Sing Around" (as opposed to Open Mike), anything acoustic is OK (although we do let Dale Stallman use a small amp for his pedal steel).  The songs are whatever has captured your interest - traditional or contemporary folk, blues, country, instrumentals from about any genre or you name it!  You define the backup during your turn - play solo, invite folks in on breaks or declare an all-out jam.

 

Although it's not a big consideration on this cool July morning, Mike's Place has just installed a new central air system that will make our summer much more comfortable and much quieter (two window units previously cooled the dining room - almost).  Mike's has a full menu of great food and beverages of all sorts and their prices are extremely reasonable.
