Not sure if I'm allowed to mention DT here (could be sworn enemies of
Porcupine Tree?!

Doug from this group was good enough to tell me about some bands, so
if you've not heard of them and want to expand your knowledge and
listen to something fairly contemporary, try Dream Theater - 'Scenes
From a Memory'.

It is quite hard progressive rock (i.e. there is a bit of grungy
guitar) but the guitars, singing and particularly the drums (being
awesome), fit together really well, to make a very origional sounding
album.

If you are having trouble finding CD's, apparently
www.impulsemusic.com is reliable and very good.
