Simon, I hear what you're saying. I had the same initial thoughts
myself. But it also made me wonder something: why does an artist
need to be promoting something in order to play live? I think
Paddy's in the enviable position of having such an unbelievable back
catalog of music that he could never write another song and I'd still
attend every show I could. But, yeah, I had the same reaction myself.
Something tells me this new live reincarnation of the band has to do
with the disappointing reaction to Andromeda by most of Paddy's close
following. I saw some occasional good reviews, but this was the
first album of Paddy's (that I've seen) that prompted the "is this
it??" kind of reaction from long-time fans and critics. No better
way to get us excited and "believing" again than to play all the old
songs live. Case in point: on June 7th I board a plane from Newark,
NJ to London for the Fleadh. And I assure you it's not to see The
Corrs.
