Was the Richter recording the one of all three War
Sonatas on Revelation?
I believe that in England the Rozhdestvensky
recordings of the Prokofiev Symphonies, made in the
60s with the USSR State Radio Symphony or whatever it
was called, are available on BMG/Melodiya CDs. For
some reason, these were never released in the U.S.
The same recordings were available briefly in the U.S.
on a different label (Consonance) in absolutely
dreadful sounding transfers. So you presumably have a
chance to pick them up in dencent sounding masterings.
Am I alone in lamenting the fact that Rozhdestvensky
has not re-recorded the Prokofiev symphonies with a
world class orchestra in modern sound?
