Re: [Quadraphonic Quad] an explosion of surround

> So it'll play DVD-Audio disks as well as DTS/DD?

Yes and no. WinDVD will now play the DTS 96/24 tracks on some DVD-A
disks, but for the actual DVD-A tracks in stereo or surround, I have
to use the DVD-A player that came with the Audigy 2, which works
quite well.

> When did The Game come out on DVD-A? Another one to add to my wish
list!

I dunno. 3 or 4 months ago maybe? It's a really nice disk, anyway, up
to the same high standards we've come to expect from a Queen quad.

> QS and not SQ?

Ooops, that was a ypto. Meant SQ, of course. Anyway, it decodes
really nicely.

Also noticed something odd lately. My Sanyo decoder has three quad
modes, labeled I, II and SQ. When I run Dolby Digital tracks from a
DVD through mode 2 I get rear channel stuff. Also, when I run
commercial VHS movies through the mode 2 I get a really enhanced
theater effect especially on loud stuff like car crashes and planes
taking off. I wonder if it's synthesizing something out of nothing or
if that mode 2 is based on some things that are still being used?
