At least you have a player, I wasn't even sure if a software DVD-A player
was available.

Great, I'll have to look for it. I probably should start looking into
what's available mail-order, everything I've bought so far I've picked up
locally, and there's usually not much in the way of selection.

No problem, you just had me thinking that maybe a limited number of QS
encoded records were made too, you never know :)

Well, I'll take a guess here, and say that because there is a "SQ" mode,
that one of the other two modes is probably QS, only not marked as such to
avoid paying to use the name. QS is basicly Dolby Pro-logic II (with full
range rear channels, minus the logic if you don't have it) so you're
probably just seeing a signal intended for a Pro-Logic decoder that
included in the DD track. Is this 2 channel DD or surround DD?
Just wondering, what kind of Sanyo do you have? I've got a fairly simple
Sanyo reciever that doesn't have much in the way of inputs or other neat
stuff, but is nice looking and works well. I think it has a 4 channel
tape loop too. I also bought a Sanyo reciever with built in Q8, again
really simple, but it has both SQ and QS decoders and seems to work quite
well, even got a set of funky looking speakers with it :) Just curious
because neither of these has decoders to write home about, and neither are
very high end.
