Yes, the commercial LP release of Brain Salad Surgery was in quad. I
have the DVD-A release and the mixes are very close. Jerusalem is a
bit more spacious on the DVD-A and the bass much richer but the rest
of the album is pretty close.
As for Queen II, that's sort of a legend. Was it a quad mix released
as steroe? Or was it just an interesting feat of engineering which
naturally matrixes out in a spacious manner? Hard to say, good
arguments on either side. IAE, it sounds great if you have the
original vinyl and run through a quad decoder or Dolby PLII.
Another one that is not quad but matrixes out extremely well is
Zappa's Uncle Meat, BTW
There were quite a lot of albums that were quad mixes, though, that
were not marked as such on the albums. Brain Salad Surger a classic
one, of course. But many others. Fireballet's first album. The first
few Synergy albums......

in quad. Are they? That might seem like a silly question since you
just said you were listening to them, but I'm just trying to make sure.

I have of The Moody Blues, as a matter of fact.
