Re: [Quadraphonic Quad] listening to mucho quad vinyl lately

Gentlmen, This is all great to hear. I have a question regarding Queen I and
Queen II. Do you know if those LPs can be recorded to DTS and maintain the quad
effect?

Another question I have is, do you guys know of any other albums that are not
quad releases, but have a quadraphonic sound? Since we are on the subject of
Queen, I'm really curious to know if Sheer Heart Attack offers quad sound. That
is my favorite Queen album, and I like it in stereo. I imagine I would love it
in quad.

I know what you are experiencing. And I am very glad. Indeed, glad you
checked out Queen 1, as well, since that album does really matrix out
nicely. If pressed to the wall, I believe that II is actually a quad
mix (as per the legend) and I is just a really fine piece of
engineering with some extra out-of-phase action that makes it matrix
nicely. It is possible, I suppose, that they are both just superbly
engineered stereo mixes based on the kind of 60s studio wizardry stuff
that matrixes out nicely. It is highly unlikely that they are both
quad mixes, so I'll stick with my unconfirmed belief that I is a
well-engineered album that matrixes nicely and II is an unofficial
quad release. Either way, it's some good listening, there. It all just
leaps out and grabs you. Very 3D.
