Dear all,
there's some great ragtime news! Michael Mathew has just posted the new
updated version of "A Ragtime Compendium", the best ragtime database
ever! Here's his message to all the ragtime music lovers on the
internet:
"Fellow Ragtime Enthusiasts
I am pleased to announce that Version 7 of A RAGTIME COMPENDIUM has been
uploaded to the web (www.chariot.net.au/~mathewm/
<
http://www.chariot.net.au/~mathewm/> ).
The web page format has been changed to hopefully make it easier for
you, but the spreadsheet format remains very much the same. In Version
7 there are 351 new titles, thousands of minor corrections to
punctuation and publisher detail in particular, and over 1,373
references to new MIDIs (many sole known MIDI renditions of the
particular title). It has been as major an overhaul as I could manage.
The Notes have been reformatted and of course include some new websites,
new source details and even a new pseudonym.
So far, for 7 versions, A RAGTIME COMPENDIUM has been an "aggressive"
project – I have regularly sought out data. Alas it has taken up an
excessive amount of my time and the immediate foreseeable future is
going to be far more "passive" – basically adding data that is
forwarded to me. So please keep the data flowing in and help keep A
RAGTIME COMPENDIUM improving.
I can't imagine any of you being interested, but we are offering a CD of
all the new MIDIs in Version 7, and also most of the new MIDIs in
Version 6 (US 10 and US 7 respectively, posted).
Michael Mathew"
