That was a devastating tragedy. I went to an impromptu memorial for him on
Tuesday night at the Rimrock in Seattle, where he was scheduled to play. The
place was packed with fans and musicians alike. Rick Knotts was there and spoke
about Joe & Rail. It was truly an amazing outpouring of love from the Seattle
music community.
Joe's service is today (Sat, about now, I guess) in Spokane, and there will be
something in Seattle, as well. I flew back east first thing Wed and have had
limited computer access, and didn't think to post it here. (Sorry, everyone!)
Joe will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on. I feel blessed to have
known him and to have seen him play so many times.
Shine a Light, Joe!

HI:
I just saw today in the Spokesman review that Joe Shikany passed away.
He played guitar for RAIL for a period around 1988. He also played for a
couple of other high profile NW bands as well: Shyanne and Bighorn!
Raise a glass to a helluva guitarist and RAIL alum!!! See you all at
the show today!
