I love music, a major part of my life.
My problem: Some music is not on CD. Many great albums have never been re-released; new music never makes it to the US.
The "record" companies don't care. They make their money on major sellers and the rest is gravy. I care.
There are albums by major artists that are not on CD, others that were issued in limited quantities in other lands, primarily Japan. If you can locate a copy, they are often prohibitively expensive. I've purchased many of these rarities, gladly paying thirty or forty dollars for one disc. When prices approach $100, I cannot afford them.
Some albums are available somewhere. Others are released secretly.
My solution: This group. If you love easily-played music that is hard-to-get, join. Post the names of albums or artists whose music you are seeking. Other members may know where to find the album or may own a copy. Maybe you could swap or work out a deal.

Of course, the last thing we'd want to do is burn a copy. That might be illegal. Horrors! However, I have learned that the sooner I get an imported great album, the sooner it is released in the US. So exchanging music in some form is a public service.
That's my idea. Post lists of music you cannot locate, or rare music you own. Since list members share this concern, we might discuss the problem, provided posts are brief and relevant. Why is it okay to rent a DVD, but not a CD? Why are record company executives such weasels,
not where we can get racy photos of Irene Kral. We might even solve the mystery of how to label the spine of those thin CD jewel cases, so you can find them again.
Tell me what you think. Please spread the word or provide a link. Or both.
