Buttigieg, who is a keen observer of all types of music that is being released from every continent, seldom criticizes or puts his judgement on whatever he hears, but rather observes the materials and components, the structure and the form of the piece he is listening to. There are two levels Buttigieg weighs music on the scale, and he points out, "On a spiritual level, I see music as a string, on one side you have the (primitive) and on the other side the future (futuristic), if you join the ends of the string they connect like a circle and it's one, a note, a melody, a song. Through history music has always been that way to a certain extent, integrating the present instruments with the old ones. Today more and more people are realizing that, and applying it effectively. On the technical level, I see the acoustic instrument, which played a great importance in classical music as the first high, the electric instrument, which molded rock music, as the second high, and the electronic instrument which is the brainchild of new music as the third high."
